The Role You'll Play
Our client is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Operations to lead system-wide clinical operations across eight health center locations in South Jersey. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for driving operational consistency, strengthening performance standards, and building scalable systems that enhance patient access, provider productivity, and overall clinic effectiveness.
In addition to overseeing six Practice Managers across the organization, the Director will directly manage day-to-day operations at the flagship Burlington site, transforming it into a model of operational excellence. This leader will refine workflows in real time, elevate accountability, standardize best practices, and then scale proven systems across the enterprise.
This is a highly visible, on-site leadership role designed for a mature operator who thrives in multi-site healthcare environments and is motivated by impact. The position offers a clear pathway to Vice President of Operations within approximately 12 months, based on performance and demonstrated leadership.
The ideal candidate combines strong operational discipline with cultural intelligence, initiative, and the ability to build alignment across clinical and administrative teams within a mission-driven Federally Qualified Health Center.
Background Profile

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field is valued

5+ years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience, including oversight of multi-site clinic environments

Demonstrated success supervising site leads, or practice managers and driving accountability across distributed teams

Proven ability to standardize workflows, implement operational controls, and improve consistency across locations

Experience directly managing day-to-day clinic operations, including staffing models, provider scheduling, throughput, and patient flow

Strong financial acumen, including budget oversight, productivity management, and performance metric analysis

Experience leading operations in an ambulatory care setting is required. Experience in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or community health settings is valued; experience in other multi-site, compliance-driven healthcare environments considered

Track record of improving operational KPIs such as access, no-show rates, provider productivity, revenue performance, and patient satisfaction

High initiative, strong executive presence, and the ability to function effectively in a visible, on-site leadership role

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build alignment across clinical, administrative, and executive stakeholders
