Associate Medical Director Opportunity
Our recruiting firm has partnered with a multi-site Federally Qualified Health Center who has an exciting opportunity available in Ontario for an Associate Medical Director. This is a role designed for physicians who are interested in combining patient care with meaningful clinical leadership, playing a key role in shaping clinical operations, quality, and strategy.

The role features face-time with the Chief Executive Officer who has a clinical background and understands the journey from provider to executive.
Succession Planning & Structure

Report to the Chief Medical Officer
As Associate Medical Director, you'll report directly to the Chief Medical Officer and provide support in medical oversight of the program

Interface with the Chief Executive Officer
Matrix reporting to CEO, regarding organizational strategy and implementation of strategic plans. As a clinically experienced CEO – can see opportunities/challenges from both and organization and clinical lense to promote middle ground solutions that benefit organization, provider/care teams, and patients.

Protected Admin Time
Approximately 20% of the role is dedicated to protected administrative time, intentionally set aside for clinical operations, quality initiatives, and strategic work; the remaining 80% on direct patient care

Flexible Schedule
You can choose between 8 or 12 hour shifts with the ability to work Saturdays if desired

Stable Leadership Team with Significant Tenure
You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated and collaborative executive leadership team with a strong track record at the organization: CEO (10 years), CFO (12 years), COO (10 years), CIO (7 years), CMO (1.5 years but with several decades of prior leadership experience. The stability of the leadership team provides continuity, institutional knowledge, and sustained focus that can be difficult to achieve in organizations experiencing frequent leadership turnover.

Productivity Incentive
The organization recognizes provider’s efforts in the shared goal of increasing access to healthcare services. As such, they offer productivity incentives up to $25,000 annually for physicians

Excellent Health Insurance (Company Sponsorship)
Low deductible PPO and HMO options available with immediately upon your first day of employment. For Medical Insurance, the organization pays 95% for employee and 45% for dependents. Dental and Vision are covered at 100% for employee, 50% for dependents.

The organization was selected as a participant (only ~30 FQHCs of over 250 were selected in CA) in the Kaiser Permanente Population Health Management Initiative, a 4+ year program where selected health centers map best practices in population health management foundational principles.

Supporting quality improvement efforts tied to HEDIS, UDS, and other performance measures, with a focus on translating quality goals into practical, clinician-informed workflows. The Associate Medical Director helps identify opportunities for improvement, supports provider engagement in quality initiatives, and contributes to sustained progress in patient outcomes and performance metrics.

Clinical Workflow & EHR Optimization
Identifying opportunities to improve clinical workflows and optimize use of the EHR in ways that enhance efficiency, reduce administrative burden, and support a positive provider experience. The Associate Medical Director partners with clinicians, support staff, and operational leaders to help develop and implement practical, real-world solutions that improve how care is delivered day to day.

Behavioral Health Integration
Collaborate with LCSWs and behavioral health leadership to strengthen integration between primary care and behavioral health services. The Associate Medical Director helps promote coordinated, whole-person care by supporting collaborative workflows, shared care planning, and effective communication across disciplines.

Change Management & Communication
Serving as a trusted bridge between providers, care teams, and leadership to ensure that clinical insights, operational realities, and strategic priorities are clearly communicated in both directions. The Associate Medical Director helps translate organizational goals into practical, clinician-informed workflows, while also elevating provider feedback to leadership in a way that supports alignment, engagement, and successful implementation of change.

Background Profile
- Desire to see patients 80% of the time, while spending 20% of your time on administrative leadership responsibilities
- Graduate of an American Medical Association accredited medical school with a M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Active and unrestricted CA Physician License
- Board Certified or Actively Board Eligible
- Capacity to provide sign-off to NP supervision with Health Plans
- Availability to take patient assignment for local Medi-Cal and Medicare Plans
