- Partner with a visionary CEO who is known for building high performance teams based on trust, commitment, and shared accountability; over 25 years of executive leadership experience that includes large health systems and deep experience with like-type community healthcare models
- Peer relationship with a seasoned and collaborative Associate Medical Director who leads the medical teams and will provide support for day-to-day administrative tasks - for example, management of PTO and CME
- Manage a well-rounded team of four psychiatric nurse practitioners and a senior Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (who oversees eight social workers)
- Ability to work a standard 8 hour/day, 5-day-week, or a flexible schedule (based on approval from the CEO) that could include 4 10s or substitution of a M-F day with a Saturday; the organization will flex to work with your lifestyle
- Initial focus will be on seeing patients; admin time provided as you hire additional psych NPs commensurate with increasing leadership responsibility
- Ramp up period provided as you build your patient panel and establish yourself in the community and organization
- Ability to see both adults and children (or adults only); from an insurance perspective, patient profiles are approximately 60% Medicaid, 20% Commercial, 15% Medicare, and 5% Uninsured
- Opportunity to build your leadership experience with all the tools and resources you’ll need to be successful; leadership coaching provided by the CEO as well as support from the HR manager and seasoned behavioral health team members
- Opportunity to build professional relationships and collaborate across other specialties. In addition to behavioral health, the organization also provides primary care and dental services
- In partnership with the psych NPs, you’ll have the ability to play a role in the organization’s developing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders

The Role You Will Play
- The Psychiatrist will provide outpatient psychiatric, diagnostic, and therapeutic services in a primary care setting. Fulfill collaborative physician relationships with psychiatric nurse practitioners for all behavioral health locations.
- Conducts psychiatric intake and follow-up examinations
- Makes diagnoses and prescribes medication and psychotherapy
- Participates in behavioral health conferences and recommends appropriate treatment approaches
- Confers with patients’ relatives regarding illness and treatment
- Participates in weekly management meetings
- Assists through consultation in establishing psychiatric programs and policies
Background Profile
- Board certified or board eligible in adult Psychiatry; secondary certification in pediatrics is desirable but not required
- Desire to have a visible position in the community with the ability to grow to be the subject matter expert for the behavioral health service line
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with leadership, peers, and staff at all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of general medicine and psychiatry; current developments in the field of psychiatry and clinic organization, management, and procedures
- Ability to skillfully diagnose and treat severely and persistently mentally ill patients
- Analyzes situations while adopting an effective course of action
- Prepares records and reports
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others
- Ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality

The Cedar Point area has two wonderful islands and a private charter to them is the best way to explore or view them. Take a short boat ride to the island for a quick lunch and cool down with a swim afterward.
Hunting
There are numerous opportunities for hunting a variety of game near Sandusky, OH. For example, Crawford County’s Elk Ridge Hunt Club, in operation as a game farm since 1981.
They offer the thrill and challenge of upland bird hunting. The owners, Dennis and Terri Courtad of Bucyrus, OH, added additional land to provide hunters over 400 acres of excellent Ohio hunting habitat for pheasant, hungarian partridge, chukar partridge, and other birds. The land is separated into multiple areas so different groups can be hunting at the same time, each having their own hunt.
Elk Ridge offers guided hunts or you can bring your own dogs. With guided hunts, a guide and dogs are furnished to ensure you have a quality hunt every time. After the shoot, hunters can relax and unwind in a comfortable, large clubhouse. Other amenities offered are a light lunch and bird cleaning.

Within a short walking radius, there is everything from quick-service fish-shacks to fine French dining. Wine bars, tap houses, breweries, and craft cocktails round out the options for spirits.

Try edible cookie dough creations and popular Toft Dairy ice cream at Doughin’ Crazy, or get your brunch on at Wake Up and Waffle – both located inside the Marketplace at the Cooke. Or head to the edge of downtown to the Bait House Brewery for a taste of Sandusky-exclusive brews such as Sandusky Bay IPA or Sandusky Bicenetenni-Ale. Sandusky also introduced a DORA, or Downtown Outdoor Refreshment Area, in 2021 which allows patrons to take beverages “to go” in special DORA carryout cups, and walk about town whilst sipping.
